 Rev. Gerald and Montine Parmer came to Jasper First from Bethel Church of the Nazarene in Nashville, Tennessee. He and Montine had three children: Joy Parmer Moore (Paul), Randy Parmer, and Danny Parmer (Dee). Montine passed away November 23, 2002. The Parmers have five grandchildren: Lindsey Garner, Amanda Garner, Caleb Parmer, Kailey Montine Parmer, and Cohen Parmer. They have two great-grandchildren.
Pastor Parmer resigned in October 2003 after almost 14 yearsof service at Jasper First. He returned to Mount Olive Church of the Nazarene where he had pastored thirty years  earlier.
On January 1, 2006, Pastor Parmer remarried. He married Judy Bailey, the widow of Rev. Tom Bailey. The Parmers live in Dublin, Georgia, near Mount Olive Church of the Nazarene.
